I agree with tjns. You need to decipher this on a personal level. You know whether your step-brother would be able to handle this information or not. Logically someone his age should be able to comprehend that this information changes nothing about his childhood or relationships. Yet, some people wouldn't be able to get past the overwhelming emotional issues. It really just depends on who you think he is as a person and whether he'd want to know. Maybe feel the situation out subtly thru younger brother or his family. good luck.
References :
After all these years, just leave well alone. You don't know what would be the outcome. whats the point, its been too long.
Something similar happened to me and it caused World War Three, believe me. all hell let loose.
People got hurt, secrets had been kept from them, the family split.
Leave well alone.
References :
I will tell you I don't think it's a good idea this many years later. you are right to feel he should have been told but he may hold it against you for not telling him all these yrs. just love him and be his brother. It was never your job to tell him and it wouldn't change anything now.
References :
I think you have to look at your motivation for doing this. Are you trying to hurt him or get back at him for some reason? Do you have personal issues with him and want him to know he's not really part of the family? Is there an inheritance involved? There is something about the way you stated "25yrs of marriage to "this gal" that makes me think you had no use for her and there might be resentments.

If you just think your stepbrother would like to know, and he's the kind of person would be interested in his history and not harmed by it, then sure. People live a lot longer now, he might still alive, however he might also be alive and have dementia or be sick and not able to respond to his long lost son.

Frankly, if your heart is in the right place then just do what you think is best for your brother of 25 years. If its not, don't hurt another human being just to get even.
References :
This may be the hardest choice you will ever make. If it were you what do you think would be best for you? If I were to find that my Dad were not my Dad right now it would kill me and it would kill him too. I would not want to know. Nothing good can come of it.
I vote to keep it quiet.
References :
Should I tell my oldest step-brother that he was adopted by his so-called real father?
When my step-mother died, my father found adoption papers that stated that my oldest step-brother was adopted by his younger half-brother's father. My step-mother was not married to the oldest step-brother's biological father--this was in the early 1950s when there was a stigma attached to unwed mothers in the USA. This oldest son does not know he was adopted. My father didn't even know about this even after 25 years of marriage with this gal until he found the papers upon her death. My father, step-mother and the 'adoptive' father are all dead now. Don't know anything about the biological father, he would at least be 80-85 right now. Should I tell my step-brothers about this? It is possible that this guy is still alive and would like contact with my oldest step-brother. My step-mother left her family and friends back East and never had contact with them after her move West. My Dad never said anything because he didn't know what to do and he was too sick to do it. Please help. Thanks.
My step brother is very sweet. And no, this has nothing to do with an inheritance. There was none since the Nursing Home took everything my father owned. I'm actually thinking my step-brother may be due an inheritance from his biological father??
I used this gal because my English is not very good and I didn't realize it had a bad connoctation! My step mother was wonderful!!

~mastits can get out of hand quickly if you don't know what your doing. ER VET TODAY. I would not wait until tomorrow. It can cost her a teat or even her life. Warm compress while you are searching the phone book. This should have been something you planned for just in case. With our litter before we even thought of breeding, we had 4000.00 in the bank saved for c-section, sick pup or infection. Thank GOD all went well, so we get to go on vaction this summer. But we were prepared.
References :
Amazing that this excuse is used daily and at night. My vet is on his way here to look at one of my dogs due to an emergency.. hmmm and its sunday here.
Ok now as for your dog, call the vets number and leave a message.
You can also try a warm compresse and try to keep her comfortable. Mastitis is not comfortable and can actually be very painful. SHe may need antibiotics to care for it.
I would keep a good eye on her.
Get her to the vet. (she should of been weaning the puppies slowly starting at 3 weeks and still have those pups on her until about 4.5 weeks.)
References :
Try putting a warm compress on the teat. It will help with some of the discomfort and pain she may feel. Then first thing Mon. I would call a vet. Just to see what he may want you to do.
