You need to decipher this on a personal level. You know whether your step-brother would be able to handle this information or not. Logically someone his age should be able to comprehend that this information changes nothing about his childhood or relationships. Yet, some people wouldn't be able to get past the overwhelming emotional issues. It really just depends on who you think he is as a person and whether he'd want to know. Are you trying to hurt him or get back at him for some reason? Do you have personal issues with him and want him to know he's not really part of the family? Is there an inheritance involved? There is something about the way you stated "25yrs of marriage to "this gal" that makes me think you had no use for her and there might be resentments. If you just think your stepbrother would like to know, and he's the kind of person would be interested in his history and not harmed by it, then sure. People live a lot longer now, he might still alive, however he might also be alive and have dementia or be sick and not able to respond to his long lost son. My vet is on his way here to look at one of my dogs due to an emergency.. hmmm and its sunday here. Ok now as for your dog, call the vets number and leave a message. You can also try a warm compresse and try to keep her comfortable. Mastitis is not comfortable and can actually be very painful. SHe may need antibiotics to care for it. I would keep a good eye on her. Get her to the vet.
